Opoakpajor Youth and Development Center (OYDC) is an agroecology training, innovation and livelihood development center based in Faaman, Techiman Municipal, Bono East Region of Ghana. We work with young people, women, smallholder farmers and communities to promote sustainable agriculture, practical skills, entrepreneurship and resilient livelihoods through hands-on training, demonstration, research and innovation.

OYDC connects traditional knowledge with modern agroecological practices to create practical solutions for sustainable food production and community development.

Our Vision

To become the premier agroecology hub for agroecological training, sustainable production, research, and providing hands-on innovative solutions in agroecological livelihoods and related fields.

Our Mission

To empower youth, women and farming communities with practical knowledge, skills and innovative agroecological solutions that improve livelihoods, strengthen food systems and protect the environment.

Our Approach

At OYDC, we believe that sustainable development can be built from the knowledge, resources and practices already present within our communities using our sankofa model

Our Sankofa Model brings together primary production, value addition, enterprise development and beneficial organisms such as Black Soldier Fly farming and beekeeping to create an interconnected and circular agricultural economic system where the end product of one unit is used as the raw material in the others section. This agroecological model create an interconnection between the various levels of production thereby reducing waste generated on the farm in a sustainable manner (producing more with less)

The model  emphasize learning by doing, allowing participants to gain practical skills that they can apply in their own farms, businesses and  help communities to transition into the agroecological system.
